Twelve Twenty...
Nestled in the centre of Newton Abbot, Twelve Twenty was opened in 2019, looking out over the town’s historic clock tower, the same one that inspired our name, built in 1220.
We’re open from 10am for great coffee and easy mornings, rolling into brunch, laid-back lunches and evening plates. The menu ranges from relaxed small dishes to our house-favourite 1220 smash patties, all cooked fresh and served in a space that feels warm and welcoming.
Twelve Twenty didn’t always look like it does today. Previously known as The Rio Grande, the family at East Street Pub Company wanted to mix things up and rebrand the venue you know and enjoy today!
Pop in for something homemade, settle in for a drink, and head out feeling like you’ve discovered a spot with its own character.

Founded by the Narvidge Family, local to the area and driven by a passion for creating something unique and exceptional, the family vision has grown remarkably over the years.
Expanding with new venues in Paignton and Teignmouth. While Olive later closed, Rio Grande underwent a major refurbishment in 2019, reopening as Twelve Twenty, a nod to the year Newton Abbot’s iconic clocktower was built.
Today, our portfolio includes over nine venues across South Devon, including the vibrant themed activity site VIVA in Torquay and the one-of-a-kind street golf experience on Paignton seafront, beneath The Hyde Dendy.
